Omar Akhil, a New Mexican native, now considers himself a proud San Antonian. He attended Trinity University in 1996 and established himself as an entrepreneur with a passion for finance and education. Before the financial crisis, he managed alternative investment portfolios while helping children with learning disabilities to perform better in school. He founded Brainiac LLC, an education company providing at-home one-on-one tutoring for K-12 students.
Omar left the hedge fund industry to start Vaulkshire Investment Advisors, a private wealth management firm. He actively trades the market during the day and works with students and mentors in the evenings and weekends. Omar is engaged in community service organizations and has served on various boards, including Blue Star Contemporary, Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas and its Foundation, and is currently the President of the Board of the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. Omar and his wife Lyn share a passion for good food, travel, games, and escape rooms, and spend much of their time trying to ensure their rooms at home are escape proof for their two children ages 4 and 2, respectively.
